"Jambo" Jaques Vieaux, taught at his trading post on Jambo Creek Road

Village named after Chief Abraham Mishicott (Potawatomi) - "Hairy Legs", he died in 1916 in Michigan

2nd School in area on "School Lot" at foot of cemetery and used as church
School started by Daniel Smith, taught by Harriet Higgins, land donated by Daniel Smith

Changed village name to Saxon
Several monthes later changed name back to Mishicott

LaFayette Smith, another of Dan's sons (1835-1906) fought in the Civial War for 3 years, wounded, resided at King Veterans Home in Waupaca
Daniel Smith (1801-1858): Family: 3 sons, 6 daughters, Daniel's wife Elizabeth died 1883; 2 sons, 2 daughters, Daniel and Elizabeth buried in Village of Mishicot cemetery at top of the hill
